AMercedes 1633 tractor was driven away from a forecourt in the Motherwell Way industrial estate in West Thurrock, Essex on 19 May. The locked vehicle, which was waiting for a load, disappeared between 20:30-21:30hrs.
The loss of the vehicle (reg Dl 30 JME) forced Purfleetbased general haulier Spectrans to stop one contract and has jeopardised another: "We can't afford to replace it at the moment," says Spectrans' Les Denham. The 1633 was in very good condition and, depending on the insurance pay-out, he may eventually have to go for an inferior vehicle. It was painted blue with a black chassis (number 62014225231499) and a white roof. The engine number is 42295720149960. A reward may be available, depending on the information given.
