AN application by Messrs. Senator Transport, Great Elm, Somerset, which had been adjourned twice, was finally disposed of by Mr. S. W. Nelson, Western Licensing Authority, at Bristol last week. He granted two additional vehicles of 81 tons limited to the carriage of road making materials within 100 miles and solid fuels over 25 miles. The original application had been for four vehicles and one low-loader.
Referring to the low-loader, Mr. Nelson said that he was not satisfied that the evidence was either full oi cogent enough to warrant a grant.
The suggestion of undercutting, made by several objectors at the previous hearings, was strongly denied by the applicants who claimed that other hauliers would not handle certain materials which were available from local quarries.
