‘VITH a new standard 4I-seat ditch body built for the Commer Avenger chassis by James Whitson and Co., Ltd., Yiewsley, West Drayton, Middx, the vehicle is claimed to weigh 5 tons 8 cwt., The Conqueror, as it is known, employs the Whitson composite method of construction, with steel reinforcings at all stressed points. Main pillars are of T-section steel bolted to the cant-rail, waist rail and skirt. Floor caving panels form radiused corners to ease cleaning.

Behind the front wheel on the near side is the entrance, a flush-fitting sliding door giving an unbroken line to the exterior of the body. Exterior panelling is in 18 g. aluminium, polished-alloy cornices being provided for the roof.

Mouldings in polished alloy are used around the wing valances and for the skirt rail, and these are continued at the rear of the coach. The metal pillars are capped with stainless steel.

The driver's compartment. built integrally with the body, is fully rounded. Excellent visibility is given. by the double-panel windscreen and

the curved side glazed quarter panels_ Cant panels in the saloon are covered with rep, the roof quarters and rear dome being faced with moquette. Scratch-proof Rexine is employed in the centre of the roof. Polished-alloy fillets complete the decoration. '

Foot-rest bars are incorporated in the two special alloy legs supporting each scat, which have Dunlopillo cushions and headrolls. The cushions are upholstered in moquette, rep being used for the seat backs.

Ventilation is by means of four inlets and two hinged panels in the roof. Top sliding windows are provided along each side.

The rear luggage locker has a capacity of 95 Cu. ft.

The first of two Conquerors have been delivered to Salopia Saloon Coaches, Ltd., Green End, Whitchurch. These also have heaters and demisters. and Weathershield's adjustable roof ventilating panels.
