Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ATRAILER in which the body cart be lowered to ground level for loading purposes, is being made by -the lbbett Engineering Co., Ltd., Stanley Works, Ampthill Road, Kempston Hardwick, Bedford.

Instead of being mounted on the customary axle the wheels are carried on arms which are keyed to a cross-shaft.

Attached to the arms are quarterelliptic springs, the eye-ends of which are connected to hydraulic jacks, with the jack bodies anchored to the chassis. In the travelling position, the hydraulic valve is closed, the jacks being relieved of load by a locking lever.

When this valve is opened the body sinks to the ground. When the body

has been loaded it is raised to the travelling position by either a manually operated pump or by a power-driven one.

Apart from the easy-loading facility, it is also claimed that the design makes for increased stability, as any tendency for the load' to be transferred from one wbeel to the other is immediately balanced out by the torsion-bar effect of the cross-shaft.

The trailer is known as the Eezion and is sold with carrying capacities of 15 cwt. to 5 ton. The lighter types have two wheels and the 5-tonners four wheels. A recent addition to the range is one for use with the Ferguson tractor.
