A PARTY of British transport experts is to visit " '06-Many on June 6 for live days, to study

industrial transport problems. The main points of the examination will be competition between road and rail, and railway charging. The party will tour the German Federal Railways, and visit goods handling depots, road haulage establishments and ancillary users'. undertakings.

E. Jordan, chairman of the A.B.C.C. transport committee and an adviser to the executive council. Chief transport officer to Tube Investnients, Ltd., he is chairman of the transport committee of Birmingham Chamber of Commerce.

Members of Party Other members of the Authority, all members of A.B.C.C. transport committee, are as follows: Mr. I. Delicate, Courtaulds, Ltd., vice-chairman of the A.B.C.C. transport committee; Mr. D. R. Goodchild, Paints Division, Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd.; Mr. R. E. Clough, Smith, Parkinson and Cole, Ltd.; Mr. Ralph Cropper, transport consultant; Mr. A. L. Taylor, Gascoignes (Reading), Ltd.; Mr. G. W. Henderson, North British Rubber Co., Ltd.; Mr. T. W. Parker, Brown Bayley Steels, Ltd.; and Mr. E. W. Bebbington, National Farmers' Union.

Mr. E. W. Arkle, commercial superintendent of the Midland Area of British Railways, will accompany the party as an observer. The secretary to the delegation will be Mr. H. F. VianSmith, secretary of the home affairs and transport division of the A.B.C.C.

[German hauliers are forbidden by law to give special concessions in rates even on regular loads. Consequently, industry has bought large and often specialized fleets of long-distance " C-licensed " vehicles. The German Government have now imposed a severe tax on these vehicles.]
