ACCORDING to a pamphlet entitled "Fifty Things the Tories Wilt Do." the Conservative Party promises:—
(a) To oppose any attempt to nationalize road passenger transport, "as this' would inevitably mean higher fares." lithe Socialist attempt should temporarily succeed, Conservatives will. return the affected services to 'municipal and private ownership. • (b) To restore the•essence of local government.
(c) Not to permit any public or local authority to compel an employee to join a particular trade union on threats of dismissal.
(d) To restore a wide measure of freedom to hauliers.

'Two new sections of the Institute of 1.Transport are being f o rmed including one in Victoria, Australia. A new. section for Merseyside and district has been created by dividing the existing north-western section into two. A committee has been elected, with Mr. D_ S. Inman as chairman and Mr.
J. F. R. Wiggins as honorary secretary.
An Exeter and district graduate and student society is also to be formed.
The Berks, Bucks and Oxon section last week had its first annual outing, when a party of about 70 visited Southampton.
DUNDEE WANTS HIGHER FARES AN inquiry into the application made by Dundee Corporation to increase fares is to be held on June 27. The corporation . seeks to raise Id. adult fares to lid. which will also affect halffares for children.
