In response to Government representations the Forfar District Committee have undertakea a large programme of road repairs and have acquired additional plant consisting of a steam wagon at 2570, a steam tractor at £540, a large stone-breaker at £540 and two new end-tipping wagons at £164 each. Now
they are faced with the difficulty of getting the necessary fuel to work the plant. The Fuel Overseer for the county has pointed out that under the regulations the District Committee should not be allowed more fuel than they 'required last year and that they must take supplies at the same places and times as last year. If they are unable to get the necessary fuel the repairs cannot be carried out. The Committee are making a strong representation to the coal control authorities in Scotland regarding the matter.
