On Wednesday last the Executive of the County Council Association made preliminary arrangements for the Roads and Transport Congress and Exhibition to be held in November at the Agricultural Hall, London.

The following were appointed members of the Congress Committee ;—The President of the Association, the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Executive Council, the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Highways Committee, Mr. F. H. Berryman, Sir H. R. FairfaxLucy, Bart., Sir R. A. Lister, C.B.E., M.P.,, Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, Mr. A. C. Pain, Sir Harcourt E. Clare, Mr. H. Hampton Connell, Mr. A. Dryland, Mr. H. T. Willmot, together with such other persons either within or outside the Aasociation as the Committee may think fit to co-opt and representatives of such of the following bodies as may desire to take part :—The Association of Municipal Corporations, the Urban District Councils' Association, the Mural District Councils' Association, and the Institution of Municipal and County Engineers. It was decided to invite the Govern rnents of the British Dominions to send representatives to the Congress, and to ascertain the views of the Government on the subject of issuing a number of invitations to the principal foreign ' Governments.

It was decided to invite the following bodies to take part in the Congress:— Association of County Councils in Scotland, Associatio'n of Municipal Corporations, Convention of Royal Burghs, Non-County Boroughs' Association, Urban District Councils' Association, Rural District Councils' Association, • Institution of Municipal and County Engineers, Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Surveyors' Institution, Society of Engineers, County Surveyors' Society, Institution of Municipal Engineers, Scottish Road Surveyors' Association, Association of County Surveyors in Ireland, Royal Automobile Club, Automobile Association and Motor Union, Scottish Automobile Club, Yorkshire Automobile Club, Public Works Contractors Association, Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, Asso 028

elation of British Motor and Allied Manufacturers, Commercial Motor Users Aasociatien, Traction Engine Owners' _Ass.ociation, National Cyclists' Union, Road Improvement Association, Association of British Motor and Allied -Manufacturers, Imperial Motor Transport Council, London "Safety. First" Council, Institute of British Carriage and Automobile Builders, British Rubber Tyre Manufacturers Association.

Sir Eric Geddes, the Minister-designate.ef Ways and Communications, is to be invited-to be President of the Congress.

Brig.-General Maybury, Sir Philip Nash, and the president or chairman of each of the bodies taking part in the Congress are to be invited to be VicePresidents.
