• Safeway is to run trials of road/rail trailers for wine transport between the Midlands and Scotland The week-long pilot scheme will allow the company to compare rail's reliability, convenience and product quality control with road. Safeway will use three intermodal Roadrailer vehicles, each carrying up to 27 tonnes.
The First load was due to leave the Daventry rail terminal at 09:00hrs on 30 June, arriving in Scotland the next morning.
