But 17 apprentices from Volvo Truck Dealership depots in Kettering, Leicester, Bedford and Peterborough have taken a different approach to training. The youngsters completed an outward bound course in Wales which included rock climbing, abseiling, canoeing, raft building and navigation. Not much to do with trucks, I know, but experts say this kind of activity, alongside normal job training, builds teamwork, communication skills and responsibility Or is it all just new fangled stuff dreamed up by the training industry? Forgive an old man for being cynical but at least I can be confident that these old bones will never have to shuffle up anything steeper than
the steps to the Goat and Dishwasher for a lunchtime pint.
