• Truck drivers face an easier time finding a job now than they have for the past 12 months, according to new figures put out by employment agency Manpower.
It says that when you compare the number of hauliers planning to hire more drivers with those planning to fire them, the hirers come out on top.
Its survey of 2,067 employers found 28% of them plan to create jobs in the third quarter of this year while only 6% plan to cut them. the balance of 22% feeling positive about future prospects is 5% up on 1996 and 10% up on 1995.
