Support for Govt LT

THERE is widespread support for a separate transport authority for London and for London Transport to be moved away from the Greater London Council, said Environment Under Secretary Lord Bellwin last week.

He added that the Government is determined that, after the chaos and the incompetence of the past few months, Londoners should have a better deal in the way that their transport is organised and run.

But Lord Bellwin would not say whether the Government intended to remove London Transport from the control of the GLC. That must wait until the Government receives the report of the Commons committee.

ROBIN HOOD Coaches, of Leek, is the first British coach operator to take delivery of a Dutch-built Smit-bodied coach.

Specification of the rear-engined DAF SB includes tinted windows, reclining seats, carpet, curtains, and a plug-type entrance door. The coach was supplied by Erringtons of Oadby.
