Iodine-quartz Auxiliaries AS U.K. concessionnaires for Fausto Carello of Turin, Lyall Lusted Ltd. is to begin marketing on July 1 two new Carello auxiliary lamps—the PF 64 fog and spot lamps. The two lamps have a common body which is less than 1-5 in. deep and the lens diameter is 5 in.

The main feature of the lamps is that the light source is an iodine-quartz bulb which gives about double the light output of a normal lamp for a given current consumption. A dualfocus reflector and special glass prism designs add to the performance. The fog lamp gives a spread of almost 180° and a high-intensity spot within the beam is contained within 3° so minimizing the throw-back of light in fog. Figures given for light output from the spot lamp measured in a photometric sphere showed that this version gives 1,150 lumens against 620 lumens for comparable lamps of normal design.

The iodinequartz bulb used is made by Philips and is 12v. 55 watt.
