The standard conversions have the Unipower fourspring-suspension bogie, although a tandem-drive bogie incorporating the Eaton-Hendrickson steel-spring, walkingbeam-type suspension is to be offered also.

In all cases a maximum gross weight limit of 15.25 tons has been set. The conversions include chassis-frame extensions reinforced chassis angle pressings. additional bogie cross-members and centre brackets, rocker beams and shackles, bogie springs, appropriate modifications to the footand hand-brake systems, and four extra wheels with 9.00-20 tyres. With the standard brakes, a 6 x 2 FE model has a total. price of £2,094, whilst the 6 x 4 version of the same chassis costs £2,574. Conversions can be applied to 10-ft.-, 12-ft. 6-in.and 13-ft. 4-in.-wheelbase basic chassis, and the 12-month B.M.C. warranty remains valid with Universal Power Drives Ltd. being responsible for their own components. The Eaton-Hendrickson suspension costs £150 more than the standard.

Butterfield Results : Group profit of W. P. Butterfield Ltd. for the year ended March 31, 1%4, was E 80.176 after all charges including taxation. The previous year's figure was £113,289.
