Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AT Llandudno on Wednesday, the North Western Traffic Commissioners reserved their decisions on applications for extended coach tours by T. H. Jones and Son and Regina Coaches Ltd. Another similar application by Crosville Motor Services Ltd. continued yesterday.

Four new tours on the company's present licence were applied for by Jones and Son: to Brighton (seven days), Yarmouth and the Norfolk Broads (seven days), Scotland (nine days) and Blackpool

(three days) all to operate from Dinas.

For the applicants, Mr. J. Booth said his clients had operated tours since 1956; in the past, five-day tours had not proved popular, to such an extent that no such tours were operated last year. The Scottish tour had previously been operated over seven days, but customers had asked for an extension to nine days so that they could visit the Isle of Skye.

Objecting for Crosville, Mr. S. Hughes, North Cambrian divisional manager, said a22 that last year 212 people made the journey by Crosville from the area to Blackpool, and traffic was increasing. Crosville operated 149 services in the area, 81 per cent of which ran at a loss each year. In cross-examination by Mr. Booth, Mr. Hughes agreed that Crosville operated no extended tours in the area, except for one that had not been operated for some 10 years. He also agreed that Crosville had applications for extended tours to Blackpool to be heard by the Commissioners which were put in after that of Jones. Mr. Booth Submitted that the application by Jones and Son had "awakened the great Crosville out of its sleep ". He said the objectors had seen fit to ignore that his clients were the only licensed extended tour operators in the area.

Regina Coaches applied for new extended tours to Blackpool (three days), Cardiff and London. Both Crosville and Jones and Son objected.
