Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

1-1 A NEW A licence for six vehicles was

. granted at Manchester last Friday to Detergent Deliveries Ltd. of Cheadle, Cheshire, by the North Western deputy Licensing Authority, Mr. G. Newman. the normal user was "mainly chemical detergents, proprietary medicines, chemists' and hairdressers' sundries as required ". .

For the applicants, Mr. G. P. Crowe .,aid they, operated four vehicles on contract, for Reddish Chemical Co. Ltd.; the applicants were a subsidiary of Harts Transport Ltd.. who were in turn partowned by Reddish Chemical. Deter!tent Deliveries was a recent subsidiary formed to carry lopg-distance delivery traffic and if the application were granted. three of the four contract vehicles _would be surrendered.

Reddish Chemical had recently found a new traffic which did not entail return loads because the containers were not returned to the factory for re-use, continued Mr. Crowe.

As a result, the applicants thought it wiser to operate on ordinary A licence; it was hoped that they would be able to carry traffic for Beechams Pharmaceutical ltd.

Undertakings were given to the objectors (British Road Services. British Railways and T. Swindells and Son (Hauliers) 1.td.) that traffic would not be carried for certain other named concerns in the toiletry and medical field.
