GET ON THE POWER TRAIN: Elddis Transport has taken delivery of four new Euro-5 Mercedes-Benz Actros 2545 Big Space tractors, two of which are equipped with Mercedes' I Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC). The County Durham-based operator is the first in the UK to use PPC, an on-board computer that helps improve efficiency by integrating 3D mapping, 1 and GPS with gear selection and braking. A further 10 Actros units are due to arrive at Elddi in March, alongside 20 Lawrence David postless high-cube trailers.
