THE FREIGHT TRANSPORT Association (FTA) and Road Haulage Association (RHA) have pledged their support for FairFuelUK (FFUK) for another year.
Since its inception in January 2011, FFUK has lobbied the government and prevented any further fuel duty rises.
Fuel prices are 9ppl cheaper (11ppl if VAT is included) than they would have been if FFUK didn't exist.
RHA chief executive Geoff Dunning said: "There's still the prospect of a duty rise in September. But the real argument we'll be pushing this year is for a cut in duty."
FTA MD of policy and communications James Hookham said: "Leading up to the Budget on 20 March we need to meet with the Office of Budget Responsibility and get it to understand why a cut in duty would stimulate the economy" Along with the FTA and RHA, FFUK is backed financially by the RAC, Palletline, Aldermore Bank, and The Fuelcard Company.
"We couldn't do what we do without our backers," said FFUK founder Peter Carroll.
"My hope for 2013 is that the whole of the road haulage industry gets behind FFUK."
