The iffy name might have been a good idea in France, but it sounds like a flat tyre over here. Renault reckons to have sold a handful of its low-access cab municipal chassis to a notoriously conservative sector. Most are RCVs, although some are motorway maintenance conelayers a growing sector if ever there was one.

The Puncher is a co-operative venture with French specialist manufacturer PVI. It's available with a 2,360mm-wide cab as standard, with the option of a 2,500mm-wide version. In France it features a wide range of alternative fuel options, including gas, electric and diesel-electric hybrid.

The domestic line-up of Punchers also includes special versions for street cleaning and even a low-emissions distribution vehicle.
