• UK hauliers will not have to fit standard Euro-style number plates.
Euro MPs have been told that despite moves towards a Euro plate in Ireland, Portugal and Luxembourg, it was probably best to leave decisions to individual states. A Dutch minister highlighted the US where attempts to introduce standard number plates had caused problems.
