• London-based haulier Robin Brown of Eurospeed is still holding the valuable cargo of textile beams he impounded four months ago, following the collapse of clearing house BSE which contracted the delivery (CM 17-23 Oct 1991).
He has contacted the consignee, ICI Fibres of Mayfield, claiming that the enforced storage has cost 2.19,000 including freight charges. ICI is considering paying £8,500. The cargo was collected from Switzerland in August by Eurospeed which picked up the load from Basel-based freight forwarder BLG, acting for Bradfordbased BSE Freight International. By the time the goods arrived in England BSE had called in the receiver.
Brown's solicitor is currently negotiating with ICI to have the goods removed from his yard. He claims that standing time for the trailer is £1,100 a week.
