• On Wednesday of this week three new State-owned transport organizations were officially vested with their assests and liabilities under Parts I and III of the Transport Act 1968. They are the National Freight Corporation, the National Bus Company and the Scottish Transport Group. On January 1 the skeleton framework of these boards, created on November 18, was clothed with financial substance. For the first year or so, it may be too preoccupied with settling its own internal organization to go after other transport concerns. But the expressed intent is there —and the NFC will also be one of the statutory objectors to special authorizations ("quantity" licences) when and if these are introduced.
