• Seven lorry drivers, formerly employed by Goodman's Transport Ltd., of Oundte Road, Peterborough, have all failed in their claim for redundancy pay, following a hearing at an Industrial Tribunal in Lincoln. Claiming that a driver was "unjustly dismissed" by the company's governing director, Mrs. Ethel Goodman, after he had disobeyed orders, the other drivers came out on strike and eventually Mrs. Goodman sacked them and closed. down her company. The Tribunal decided that the men, by refusing to work and carry out their obliga tions, had broken their contract and were not entitled to redundancy payment.
