T"Eplan for merging the associations in Yorkshire, with the ultimate object of bringing about a national amalgamation, is now taking definite shape. Executives of interested bodies met in Leeds, on Monday, under the chairmanship of Mr. Robert Barr (of A.R.O.). These executiVes now form the Yorkshire committee, which is to carry the plan into effect, and at Monday's meeting they discussed detailed proposals for the operatior of the scheme.

The associations officially represented were A.R.O., Yorkshire Stage Carriage Operators Association, and Sheffield Horse and Motor Owners Association, The C.3.d.U.A, was not officially. represented (although 'it had been invited), but Mr. Charles Holdsworth, of that body, was present in an unofficial capa city. It is understood that no announcement as to the C.M.U.A.'s attitude to the project will be made until the committee of the North-Eastern Division has discussed the matter later this month.

At Monday's meeting it was definitely agreed that, subject to ratification by members, the associations represented shall merge their interests— with reservations in the case of the Sheffield body. Owing to its internal arrangements, this organization cannot immediately participate in the scheme to the fullest extent, but subject to the approval of members, the Associa

tion would, in sonic measure, be will ing to join the financial pool

It is proposed that immediately the scheme is put into operation the whole of the funds, in Yorkshire, of the interested associations shall he .put into one pool, and that from the pool shall be taken a fixed percentage for the headquarter's funds of any national organization participating. The " pool " Associations' Yorkshire expenses for stalls, offices and licensing business will be paid from the fund. This arrangement was agreed upon by the committee, subject to the approval of members of the various associations. Provisional agreement was also reached on other points.

Another meeting of the Yorkshire committee will be held in Leeds next week, and representatives of other transport associations in Yorkshire, in addition to those already mentioned, will be invited.
