Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Bristol-based operator OH Wintle & Sons is selling off 75% of its fleet because the haulage side of its business no longer pays. The company specialises in bulk tipper work but will now retain just three vehicles out of its fleet of 12.

"We're going to keep doing the profitable work but most of it just isn't paying," says managing director Mark Wintle. The rates are very poor and the fuel costs are very high. The family firm has been in haulage for years", he adds. "It was started by my great grandfather with a steam truck."

The company also has interests in property and will now focus on this area. The vehicles, which include nine tractive units, 12 tipping trailers and a 1934 Leyland box van, will be auctioned at the firm's premises by Malcolm Harrison on 12 February.
