Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• BOC Distribution Services is on the verge of adding Onward Transport to its distribution network of 900 trucks and 34 depots.

Last week the distribution arm of the BOC Group agreed in principle to buy the assets and business of the 60-year-old family firm. The deal, which will affect 350 staff including 150 drivers, is due to be completed this Friday (4 February).

Neither companies would comment further. However, it is believed that there will be few driver and warehousing staff redundancies.

And Onward Transport's managing director Ian Ramsay will continue to work for the West Yorkshire-based food distribution specialist.

It is thought unlikely that BOC will buy any of Onward Transport's depots at Ackworth, South Kirby, Castleford, Livingston and Purfleet.

These arc expected to remain in the hands of the Storey family.
