Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Unipower's C series bonneted civilian heavy hauler looks set to make its debut later this year. The Watford-based company describes it as an updated Scammell 524, but using a Volvo F12 cab mated to a Unipower-designed glass fibre bonnet.

Customers will be able to choose from a variety of power trains, but the manufacturer expects that most will opt for Cummins engines and ZF gearboxes.

"We've got two engineering models in build a 6x6 and a 6x4," says a company spokesman. 'They're gathering dust at present, but we'll be blowing it off them during the next few months."

Unipower admits that the civilian market has had to take second place to military contracts.

At the end of 1993, it landed a major order for 129 8x8 military chassis from the Ministry of Defence as part of its "Bridging for the '90s" initiative. The vehicles will be supplied over the next three years, with 35 to be delivered in the first12 months, and are designed to carry a bridge launching system. They use Perkins Eagle engines and ZF gearboxes.
