It is the first time that DAF has made an eight-wheeler for its domestic market. Previously the specialist firm of Ginaf has converted DAF sixwheelers as required, but these have usually been all-wheel drive. • Also on show from DAF (who incidentally celebrates its 50th anniversary this year) will be two new light/medium chassis, additions to the Club of Four range.

Known as the FA 1300 and 1500 they are two-axle rigids plated for 11.8 and 14 tonnes respectively. Both are available with either a 94 or 114kW (126 or 153bhp) power unit.

The 1500 will also be offered as a tractive unit plated for 24 tonnes gcw and known as the FT 1500.
