Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I NCREASING competition from cars, scooters and minibuses must be expected by coach operators, said Mr. T. Hoyle. of Halifax, president of the Yorkshire Region of the Passenger Vehicle Operators' Association at the annual dinner of the Sheffield sub-area last week.

Coach operators had often been their worst enemies in private hire work by regarding it as something for which a higher charge should be made, said Mr. Hoyle. This opened the way to cut-throat competition.

In his opinion, private hire work should have a preferential fare, as it was a guaranteed load for the operator.
