NINETEEN vehicles (25 tons) have been taken over from British Road Services by Mr. J. Bradley, Albion Mill, Brantley Street, Accrington, and transferred to J. Bradley (Accrington), Ltd., Argyle Street, Accrington. Many. more purchases and assignments are reported thisweek.

NORTHERN AREA Mr. E. Waters, 84 St. Mary's Avenue, Monkseaton, has taken over another three lorries. (11 tons 13 cwt.), one of them (31 tons) from Mr. E. Walton, Wesley House. 2 Melrose Villas, Bedlington Station. In turn, Mr. Waters has transferred a lorry (41 tons) to S. A. Bell, Ltd., 37. Rutland Street, Filey; one (2 tons 14 cwt.) to Mr. M. E. Rutherford, 11-13 Moatside, Brampton; one (2 tons 19 cwt.) to Mr. J. W. A. Stamper, Brooklands, Penrith; and one (2 tons 18 cwt,) to Mr. C. V. Whitfield, 6 Aston Terrace, Coekerton, Darlington. Messrs. Robsons Transport, Blackburn House, Midgeholme, Larnbley, have acquired a lorry (2 tons 19 cwt.) from Wilde and Bennett. Ltd., Station Road, Hadfield, near Manchester; and. Mr. N. Elliott, Tyne View, Haltwhisile. one 42 tons 19 cwt.) from Mr. J. J. Mullen, Rosedale Garage, Warwick Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, The Executors of the late Mr. H. Metcalfe, Mulberry Trading Estate, Felling-; on-Tyne, have transferred the eight lorries (321 tons) held by him to Metcalfe and Co., 130 Prior Road, Hull.

NORTH-WEST J. Bradley (Accrington), Ltd., Park Garage, Argyle Street, Accrington. have taken over 19 vehicles (25 tons) from Mr. J. Bradley, Albion Mill, Bramley Street, Accrington. Mr. Bradley has also transferred three vehicles (3) tons) to Fearings Transport, Ltd., 76-80 Barracks Road, Burnley, who in turn have made over one (1 ton t to W. and J. Riding, Ltd., Daniell Platt, 'Longridge, Preston. Seven . more vehicles, including four articulated outfits (33) tons) have been transferred to Cusick (Oldham), Ltd., Thornton Street North, Manchester. 9. by Mr. A. Cusick, 282 Frederick Street, Oldham. Cusick (Oldham). Ltd., have also taken over six lorries (20) tons) from Mr. J. G. Gibson, 3 Arrow Street, Salford, 7; two (8) tons) from Mr. F. G. Howsam, 7 Elmfield Street. Manchester. 8; and one 47( tons) from Mr. R. Lovett, 4 Edgehill Road, Royton. Two of these have been reassigned, one (31 tons)• going to J. Wright and Sons. Ltd., 30 Clifton Street, Sheffield, 9, and the other (3 tons) to T. Duckworth, Ltd., Arthur. Street, Burnley.

Mr. G. H. Cropper, 2 Breeze Hill, Walton, Liverpool, 9, has been granted special A licences for another 10 vehicles (I0.1 tons).

Woodcocks • Transport (Charley). Ltd., Park Road Garage, Heskin, near Charley, have exchanged a lorry (8 tons) for one weighing 6-1 tons with J. G. Perkins and Co., Buxton. J. G. Perkins have also transferred a lorry (4 tons) to Longton Transport, Ltd„.Church Street, Langton.

Another assignment is that of a vehicle (2 tons) to Messrs. E. Walker, 35 Park Street. Cheetham, Manchester. by Wescol (Bradford). Ltd., Deanstones Lane, Queensbury, Bradford.

YORKSHIRE Parkers Luxury Tours, Ltd,. Holme Lane, Selby, have bought another four lorries.

Needham, Shaw Farm, Ringwood Road, Brimington, Chesterfield, one from Mr. J. Bell, Staley Road. Mansfield; and C. WEST MIDLANDS Mr. K. F. Rawson. 32 Stafford Street, St. Georges. Oakengates, has acquired his first ex-British Road Services' lorry (21 tons). Another first purchaser is Marjorie Myhill, 41 Wychwood Avenue, Knowle, one (3 tons). Another vehicle (1) tons) has been taken over by Mr. B. Abrams, 23 Breeze Mount, Prestwick. Based in Coventry, it has now been transferred to Latham _Haulage Co., Ltd., 4-6 Latham Road, Coventry. Most of the 16 vehicles, including five articulated outfits (60) torts), and seven trailers transferred to Mr, N. Beech, Hope Street, Hartley. by Hacketts Haulage, Ltd., 229 Cross Lane, Salford, 5. have now been made over to other operators. One (4:7 tons) has gone to A. C. Horton (Transport), Ltd., 72 Dudley Road, Wolverhampton; one (4* tons) to Rutland's Haulage. Ltd.. 300 London Road, Stokeon-Trent; one (‘Pi tons) to Mr. H. Warburton, 2 Warrington Street. Fenton. Stoke-on-'frent; one (4) tons) to Mr. R. F. Proctor, Sheffield; a lorry (5 tons) and a trailer to A. and H. Davey (Roadways), Ltd., Vernon Road, Stoke-on-Trent: two articulated outfits (5 tons) to Mr. A, G. Bird, Hilton Lane. Shareshill, near Wolverhampton; two articulated outfits (41 tons) to J. L. Cooper, Ltd., Church Garage, Milton, Stoke-on-Trent; and two articulated outfits (5 tons) to Mr. J. H. Ferrington, Glenholm, Affinaston. Road, Wellington.

WESTERN AREA Messrs. W. T. Edwards and Sons, Joys Green. Lydbrook. have merle a first purchase of a lorry (7 tons 12 cwt.). Another direct purchase, involving a lorry (3 tons), has been made by A. D. Forsey (Transport), Ltd., Ricketts Lane Works, Worle, and a further three vehicles (4i tons) have gone to G. Read (Transport), Ltd., Cuckoo Patch. Miteheldean.

S. Ball and Son (Transport). Ltd., Chipping Sodbury, have transferred a lorry to each of the following: Mr. W. A. F. Rolls, Filling Station, Croscombe (2 tons 16 cwt.); Mr. R. " IL Rudler, Horton, Devizes (2 tons 19 cwt.); and Mr. F. Taylor, 208 Golderoft, Yeovil (3 tons 1 cwt.). „

Messrs.C. R.' J m . E., and R. C. Sys, 130 London Road, Caine, have taken over it lorry (2 tons 18 cwt.) from Mr. E. R. Crew. Trudoxhill, who has also transferred one (2 tons 16 cwt.) to Messrs. J. M. K. and A. K Baker, HeatherdaLe, Sandford. Curnows (Long Distance) Motor Transport Co., Ltd., Helston, have sold three ' lorries (10 tons 9 cwt.) to Wilde and Bennett. Ltd., Station Road, Hadfield; and Mr. F. G. Howsa.m, Elinfield Street, Manchester, two (6 tons 11 cwt.) based at Oldland Common. to Cusick (Oldham), Ltd., Collyhurst, Manchester, 9.

Two more lorries bought by Messrs. Parsons and Hardwick, 232 Fishponds Road, Bristol, have been divided between the two parties, one (3 tons 4 cwt.) going to Mr. J. R. Parsons, of the same address, and the other (3 tons 3 cwt.) to Mr. R. J. Hardwick, Bell Barn Road, Coombe Dingle, Bristol.

SOUTHERN AREA A further four lorries (12 tons) have gone to Victory Transport, Lid., Old Mill Quay, Northam, -Southampton. Mr. W. N. Shearing, Gratetey, Andover, hag bought another two lorries (8 tons); Messrs. Clements Bros., 102 New Road, Portsmouth, one (31 tons); Mr. K. G. Jenkins, Languard Farm, Shanklin, one (2.1 tons); Iiabin -Haulage, Ltd., 10 Wilton Street, Southampton, one (31 tons); Mr. F. H. Penfold,. 7 Carden Avenue, Patcham; Brighton, one (1 ton); Messrs. G. T. Wilson and Son, Hunton Place, }Linton, Maidstone, an articulated outfit (41 tons); and S. M. Tidy (Haulage), Ltd., 161 Preston Road; Brighton; 6, an articulated outfit (7) tons).

J. C. Wells (Transport), Ltd., London Road, Addington, West Mailing, who have been granted special A licences for another live lorries (15) tons), have transferred one of these (3) tons) to Mr. S. T. Mattock, 19 Clarence Place, Gravesend. and one (41 tons) to Mr. C. W. Thorp, Brooklands, Fordwich, Canterbury.

Arney's Aggregates, Ltd., Lower Wootton, Boars Hill, have bought another lorry (61 tons) and transferred it to Amey's Transport (Oxford), Ltd., Abingdon, LONDON AND HOME COUNTIES Two Yorkshire operators have bought lorries in this area. Hanson Haulage, Ltd., 31 Se John's Road, Huddersfield, have acquired one (2 tons 19 cwt.) based in East London, and Mr. T. J. Hughes, 264 Dick . Lane, Bradford, 4, One (71 tons) based in Enfield.

Brown Bros. (Sittingbourne), Ltd., Chalkwell Road, Sittingbourne, have been granted special A licences for a further eight vehicles, including two articulated outfits (37 tons).

Messrs. El. Colliass and Sons, 53-61 Bridge Road, Maidenhead, have acquired two lorries (6 tons); Messrs. Scott's Transport, 20 Water Lane, Faversham, one (71 tons); and Mr. S. Hughes, Leeds Road, Mirtield, Yorkshiie, one (7 tons) based in Canterbury.

The only other direct purchasereported this week is that of.a lorry (2 tons 19 mt.) by Messrs. D. Hull and Sons, 19 Napsbury Avenue, London Colncy.

Whalebone Motors, Ltd., 239-41 High Road, Chadwell Heath, have transferred a lorry (2 tons 6 cwt.) to Chas. Aylott, Ltd., 36 Fleming Road, London, S.E.I7, and one (2 tons 16 cwt.) to Mr. J. S. Crossey, 50 Barnsbury Grove, London, N.7.

Wescol (Bradford), Ltd., County Garage, Trinity Lane, Ripon. have sold a vehicle (18 cwt.) to Mr. J. M. Daly, 35 Mount View Road, London, N.4, and one (1 ton) to Harry Green (Removals), Ltd., 5 Swiss Terrace, London, N.W.6.

Lees Direct Transport Co. (Entiefd), Ltd. 372 Hertford Road, Enfield, have purchased two lorries (6 tons 16 cwt.) from Hackers Haulage, Ltd., 229 Cross Lene, Salford, 5, who have also made over a lorry (3 tons) to Mr. E. Jones, 53 Stoney Lane, London, F.1. .

The Metropolitan Licensing Authority has also authorized tile assignment of a lorry (2 tons 18 cwt.) to A.B.E., Ltd., 273, Haggerston Road, London, E.8, by Mn. " G, L. Gardner, address not known; one (2) tons) to Messrs. J. Chance Transport, Si St. Petri Street, London, N.1, by Messrs. Stockley Transport, Iron Bridge Lane, Siockley, West Drayton; three Ole tons) to P. and M. Kaye, Ltd.' Downs Works,. Downs Road, London; E.5, by Mn S.
