The Road Haulage Association have stated that the Government should ensure that the parcels network is operated efficiently independently of the British Transport Commission. Mr. Tippetts was chairman and joint managing director of L. H. Newton and Co., Ltd., which .concern he acquired some 35 years ago and subsequently built up. He was 67.

Mr. Ambler became a member Of the board of Leyland Motors, Ltd., in 1945 after a long association with the company as legal adviser. He was 54.

BIGGER BUSES BY U.A.S. WHEN United Automobile Services, W Ltd., successfully applied to the Northern Licensing Authority to take over the services of Messrs. James and Mosley, reductions in the frequencies were sanctioned after it was explained that bigger vehicles would be employed. A promise was given that services would be restored if the need arose.
