SIR LEONARD SINCLAIR, chairman and managing director of the Esso Petroleum Co., Ltd., has been presented with an oil portrait of himself painted by MR. JAMES GUNN. The portrait had been subscribed fdr by employees to commemorate the knighthood conferred upon Sir Leonard in the 1955 New Year Honours List.

DR. E. A. WATSON, 0.B.E., 74.11.Mech.E.. has been awarded by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers the 1955 lames Clayton prize for hit noiable work in automobile engineer.ing, and for his outstanding contributions in the last 15 years to the progress of the aircraft gas turbine. He was chairman of the automobile division of the Institution for the 1949-50 session.

manager (lubricants). He succeeded MR. C:. BERESTORD CLARK, who is transferring to the Caltex Trading and Transport Co., Ltd.

TROLLEYBUSES TO GO?

AHINT that all the town's trolley. buses may be replaced by motorbuses was given at a meeting of Grimsby Town Council by the mayor and chairman of the transport committee, Aid. J. C. B. Olsen. He was speaking during a debate on the recommended replacement of trolleybuscs by motorbuses on the Freeman Street route.

The council approved a proposal by the transport committee to terminate all bus services from the town centre at II p.m
