The attention of readers of the " Motorbus World " pages is directed ta this week's leading articles under the titles " Heated Motorbuses," " East-End Streets as Playgrounds for Young Children," and " Tramways Finance.'

"Stop Notices" Again.

During the past week, the London motorbus companies were the subjects of one of the periodical raids on the part of the inspectors from the Public Carriage Office. The serving of a large number of " stop notices " was the immediate result, to the considerable inconvenience of the large owners, Many of these notices were for unimportant breaches of the regulations.

An Alleged Nuisance.

Since the commencement of an action, Robinson v. London General Omnibus Co., Ltd., to restrain the defendant company from working its motorbuses through certain thoroughfares in Leyton. the plaintiff Robinson has died, and two of his tenants, who were co-plaintiffs, have vacated the premises in the thoroughfares in question. In addition to these defections, in August, 1909, i.e., after the commencement of the action, the defendant company ceased to send its motorbuses into these tho

roughfares. No injunction is now, therefore, necessary. The issue eventually decided, last Thursday, was as to whether a good cause of action existed when the plaintiffs first brought their case, so as to give them the costs of the action. Mr. Justice Neville found : that a nuisance did originally exist, when the writ was issued; that no permanent structural damage was done to premises in the neighbourhood ; and that there was some loss of rent owing to tenants leaving the district. Plaintiffs secured part costs.

At the meeting of the Metropolitan Asylums Board on Saturday, it WELi decided to allocate a motorbus to the Children's Infirmary at Carshalton the conveyance of the staff to and from the station. As a temporary expedient, this had been done since D:.cember, and the arrangement is now to be made permanent.

Shrapnel Splashguards.

Our attention has been drawn to a converted Milnes-Daimler omnibus which is run, by Thomas Tilling, Ltd., between Oxford Circus and Sidenp. This vehicle, which we illustrate, is fitted with Shrapnel splashguards. We offer our congratulations to Mr. Percy Frost-Smith, the engineer to the cam pony, on the steps which he has thus taken to increase the popularity of the machines under his control. We understand that the efficiency of the guards. as a means for preventing the dispersal of mud, will be most-carefully observed by all interested partits.

The Shrapnel Splashguard Co., Ltd., of 266, South Lambeth Road, SE., has just received orders to fit guards to the rnotorhoses owned by the Cor porations of Hull and Widnes, and re-peat orders have been received from Brussels, where they will be used on the Ryknield motorbuses.
