• Two European training organisations have bought simulators which will allow its HGV drivers to be trained without driving on the road. AFT-IFTIM in France and VTenL in Holland have bought 10 TRUST ITruck Simulator for Training) simulators from Thomson-CSF, a company better known for flight simulators. The truck simulators are based on Renault Premium cabs. They give the driver a 180° field of view with realistic sounds and can "intelligently' simulate urban or rural traffic and a range of weather conditions. The first two units, deliv ered in France, will be mobile simulators, mounted on trailers.
