• Scania is supplying five G92M water tenders, to the West Glamorgan County Fire Service, under an unusual contract hire agreement.
Each of the 4x2 chassis are equipped with Scania's factorybuilt six man safety crew cab, DS9-01 8.5 litre turbocharged engine, rated at 202kW with a maximum torque output of 1097Nm, and G770 five speed synchromesh gearbox.
The braking system incorpo rates a Girling Skid Chek antilock system and 178nun spring brakes all round.
Carmichael Fire and Bulk provided the water tender bodywork and tank with 1800 litre capacity.
The vehicles are expected to give an operational service life of about 15 years, providing fire cover for oil refineries, docks, chemical plants and forests in addition to normal residential areas.
