CHANGES at the top in the National Bus Company will take place in the New Year.

On January 1 the western region director, Mr Robert Brook, will take over as Chief Executive from Mr Jim Skyrme, who is to retire.

A new post of deputy chief executive will be filled by Mr Frank Pointon, the present regional director of the southern region of the NBC.

An NBC spokesman told CM that the elevation of two of the three regional directors did not imply any change in the NBC management structure. Both these posts would be filled shortly.

Mr Brook, a 47-year-old Yorkshireman, joined the bus .industry 26 years ago as an accounts clerk with West Yorkshire Road Car Company.

In 195-3he was appointed group audit officer of the Tilling Association and subsequently held secretarial appointments at Western Na tional, Cumberland Motor Services and Thames Valley.

In 1968 he was appointed general manager of North Western Road Car Company in Stockport, later becoming chief general manager of the NBC's north western division.

In 1972 he was promoted general manager of Midland Red and head of the Midlands division. A year later he was appointed western regional director.
