Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

rA,

A NEW type of bearing material has

been introduced by Glacier Metal Co. Ltd. which, it is said, fills the gap between non-lubricated bearings (such as the DU made by the concern) and fully lubricated bearings. The name given to the material is DX and it need be lubricated on assembly only for applications where further lubrication is difficult or impossible.

Glacier DX is a tripartite material with the mating surface an acetal resin polymer which is interlocked with a steel backing through the medium of porous bronze. The acetal resin surface is said to have the desirable property of retaining a small amount of oil in an unbroken surface film for a longer period than any other metal or resin so far evolved. An advantage of DX over DU is that it can be machined before or after installation. DX is available as strip, bushes, hemispherical cups and thrust washers and is usually supplied with surface indentations which form grease cups.
