A N East London firm of hauliers, Pad Transport, was granted three additional artics by the Metropolitan Licensing Authority, Mr. D. I. R. Muir, in London on Tuesday. Pad had applied for an A-licence variation to enable them

to operate six additional vehicles. Mr. M. H. Jackson-Lipkin, for the applicant, said Pad worked in reciprocal trunk service with Harris Road Services of Northwich, Cheshire. Most of the work was for the Reed Paper Group.

The Reed Group needed further assistance which Harris could not supply. "It is obvious to anyone looking at this case that more vehicles are needed for the road work ", submitted Mr. JacksonLipkin.

A director of Pad, Mr. W. Passmore, said he would be satisfied with a grant of three, with the reservation that he might need to apply for another vehicle later on the grounds of maintenance difficulties.
