Ulster Transport's road passenger services. This section of the undertaking is shortly to be transferred to a subsidiary company that is being promoted in accordance with the Northern Ireland Government's transport policy. Mr. Heubeck, whose appointment was foreshadowed in The Commercial Motor on November 12, expects to start his duties in January.

Mr. H. A. Couchman, deputy general manager of A. Schrader's Son, Birmingham, is to retire on December 31 after nearly 45 years with the company. Mr. Frank E. Lane has joined Schrader's as general sales manager. Since 1962 he had been general sales manager of Hawley Products, USA.

Mr. D. N. A. Hancock has been appointed chief executive of Charrington, Gardner, Locket and Co. Ltd. and a member of the boards of three of their subsidiary companies—Charrold Ltd., Ouse Valley Motors Ltd. and Crane and General Plant Maintenance (London) Ltd. Mr. Hancock was formerly managing director of Burnett and Rolfe of Rochester, process plant engineers.

Mr. R. E. Brown has retired from fulltime duties as sales director of Duple Group Sales Ltd. after 38 years with the company. He will remain on the board and will be responsible for special duties such as coach shows, rallies and occasional liaison with customers. Mr. Brown, who is also a director of Duple Motor Bodies Ltd., joined Duple in 1927 and became a director and sales manager shortly afterwards. Following the retirement of Mr. Brown, the following rearranged duties are effective: Mr. H. A. H. Payze is now director, export sales; home sales as allocated; exhibitions and coach rallies; public relations and liaison with chassis manufacturers. Mr. R. Beechey Newman is director, fleet sales. Mr. J. E. Jennings is assistant to the fleet sales manager. Mr. J. Brunsdon is commercial manager. Mr. W. J. Newey is coach sales manager; dealer and operator, group sales, and other duties. Mr. E. S. Walker is director, dealer sales and operators as allocated. Mr. R. S. Wood deals with customers' special requirements and technical sales literature. Mr. C. .1. Lane handles customer reception at Blackpool. Area representatives appointed are Mr. V. Bowser (North East), Mr. A. Figg (South West), Mr. J. S. Leach (Midlands), Mr. F. Bloom (North West) and Mr. I. Mr. A. K Bird, senior traffic clerk at Rothwell, Northants, branch of BRS Parcels Ltd., becomes branch manager at Eastbourne on Monday. He is taking over from Mr. A. G. Mortimer, who will retire in January.

Mr. D. H. Keeler has been appointed by London Transport as principal executive assistant in the traffic office of the Central bus operating department. He will be responsible to the traffic officer for traffic investigation, including area schemes and service planning, and for the control of the Central bus timing section.

Mr. Ralph Murfitt, chairman and managing director of Murfitt Bulk Transporters Ltd., is to visit Johannesburg with one of his service engineers, Mr. Geoffrey. Long, to help expand his export interests in South Africa following the recent appointment of agents in Johannesburg.

The Minister of Transport has reappointed Sir Arthur Kirby as chairman of the British Transport Docks Board.

Mr. B. G. Watson has been appointed sales manager (transport) and Mr. H. Hynes field sales manager in the Dunlopillo division of the Dunlop Rubber Co. Ltd.

Mr. Adam G. Jenkins has been appointed sales director of Melvin Motors Ltd., the Glasgow main dealers for Rootes Group.

Mr. William G. Heaton has been appointed production director of Triplex Safety Glass Co. Ltd.

Mr. G. E. Parry has recently joined the Grosvenor Motor Co. Ltd., Chester, in the capacity of commercial sales manager.

Three new appointments have been made by the Kelly-Springfield Tyre Co. Ltd. Mr. Arthur Nutt becomes sales manager in succession to Mr. Ray Willis, recently appointed managing director, with Mr. J. S. S. Scott succeeding him as southern district sales manager. Mr. R. E. Nunn is now export sales manager. Mr. Nutt joined Kelly-Springfield on the company's formation in 1958, whilst Mr. Scott has been with the company since 1959, Mr. Nunn was for 10 years export manager with the Wipac Group, and subsequently eight years with NSU Great Britain as export sales .manager before joining Kelly-Springfield. Mr. F. P. Parkes has been appointed assistant managing director to his father, Mr. A. H. Parkes, at Small and Parkes Ltd. and Mr. A. L. Grayson is to be home sales director (original equipment). Both appointments are effective from January 1.

Mr. Kenneth J. Dickinson has joined Autohall International Car Hire as UK sales manager of the car and van hire division.

Mr. L. W. G. Perkins, after 41 years with Cleveland Petroleum Co. Ltd., has resigned as a director and managing director of the company with effect from December 31 next. In succession to Mr. Perkins, the Cleveland board has appointed Mr. L. R. Pincott as a director and general manager. Mr. Pincott is at present assistant general manager (marketing) with Esso Petroleum Co. Ltd, Mr. D. W. Pretious has been appointed chief engineer and Mr. C. B. Elkins quality assurance manager of Vactric Control Equipment Ltd.

Mr. David Allard has been appointed general sales manager of J. W. and T. Connolly Ltd., High Wycombe, and will take up his duties on December 6. Mr. Allard is area sales manager with Avon Rubber Co. Ltd. in London (north) and has been with the company since 1956.

Mr. David Allen and Mr. Brian G. Curtis have been appointed executive directors of Frani Filters Ltd., of Treforest, Glamorgan. Mr, Curtis continues as chief engineer and Mr. Allen has been appointed comptroller.
