nRIGINALLY evolved for replacing
small inaccessible screws in vehicle electrical equipment, the Grip-Start screwdriver produced by The Elms Garage, Rednal Road, West Heath, Birmingham, 31, can also be usefully employed for any fitting work where temporary attachment of a slotted-head screw or bolt to the tool is an advantage.
The screwdriver is made of lightgauge spring-steel plate and the head is divided into two offset blades which are forced together with the fingers or a pair of pliers to fit into the slat.
The screw is securely held by the rt 12 blades during insertion and tightening, and the screwdriver is then easily withdrawn by a straight pull. Although it is not suitable for tightening large screws, it can be invaluable for initial insertion, after which a conventional type of screwdriver can be used. Hexagonal holes in the opposite end of the screwdriver can be used for tightening small nuts.
