The greatest financial difficulty was the time lag between a sudden large increase in expenditure and the date from which fares could be raised. Mr. Barton hoped that the new Minister of Transport would find some solution of the problem by revising a system "which seems to be behind the times."
Next season's tours programme is likely to be enlarged.

LIST S.3 of transport units will be LIST
next Wednesday. It will consist of six to eight units which are being re-offered as quickly as possible. Units with premises at Accrington, Howgate, Manchester, Smethwick, Stafford. Uttoxeter and elsewhere are included.
Tenders for vehicle-only units will close on January 5, and for units with premises on January 12.
