THE use of oil fuel for vehicles has increased by over 10 per cent, and direct sales of petrol to large commercial users have declined by 2 per cent. These trends are revealed in figures issued by the Petroleum Information Bureau covering the first nine months of this year.
Consumption of all types of petroleum product, at 15.6m. tons, was 10 per cent. higher than in the comparative period of 1953: /-1per cent. more petrol was sold, and 64 per cent. delivered to garages was premium grade.
Commercial users bought 215,741 gallons of premium and 1,231,955 gallons of standard-grade petrol, compared with 184,473 gallons and 1,287,157 gallons respectively in the first nine months of last year.
