THE TRANSPORT Tribunal has rejected an appeal by an accountant who was refused a two-vehicle international licence by the Scottish Traffic Area Office on financial grounds.

When he made his application in May 2005, lain Scott Fairbairn, trading as Eurolink. of Larkhall, enclosed a month's hank statements for a client account in the name of Scott Fairbairn. trading as Taxilink, and entitled "Strathclyde Client Account". In February this year he sent copies of ban] statements for the same client account, but mudl of the information on them had been deleted. Th, statements showed there was an average of £10,809 i] his client account over the relevant period.

Fairbairn said he had lodged his own funds inti his client account to show that funds were availahl( He proposed setting up a business account fo Eurolink once his application had been granted an subsequently sent a copy of a bank statement for hi own savings account to show he had the require' financial standing.

The Tri bunal said Fairbairn had failed absolutely t provide the necessary financial information require, for the application to be put before theTC. He did nc provide original bank statements at any stage and wa reliant upon statements relating to a client account.

Only after his application was refused did he purpo, to provide evidence of his own financial standing b producing another copy of a bank statement.
