Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

crept Into your piece about Peter Bottomley enjoying the quiet life with Perkins (CM 20-26 July).

The noise reduction numbers you gave for the ultra-quiet QHV90 engine were correct but were, of course, for the bare engine and not "pass by". In fact, the pass-by level went down from 84.9dB(A) to 76.6d3(A) — not the sort of performance we want to keep quiet about!
