• Leyland Daf has won its first on-site repair and maintenance deal with Tesco's distribution base at Snodland.
Under the five-year deal, which Tesco put out to tender, Leyland Daf will maintain 40 vr25oo tractors and 60 refrigerated trailers. Work will be handled by staff from local truck dealer Thameside Truck Centre, which plans to take on up to four extra fitters.
• Leyland Daf service director Peter Cutmore says: "More contracts will be going in this direction in the future." Leyland Daf dealer Vales Truck Centre has won the Tesco Harlow distribution site repair and maintenance contract. Vales will supply and maintain some 40 tractive units and will also look after 45 trailers.
Other Tesco maintenance and repair contracts awarded during the past six months include Middleton, Doncaster and Livingstone to Glass Glover; Didcot and Chepstow to Exel Logistics, and Hinkley to an in-house bid.
