The Co-operative Wholesale Society has acquired two Primrose 30ewt capacity electro-hydraulic tail-lifts to speed up unloading of crates at two of its distribution depots.
One is quickly detachable and provided with a set of hook-on transporter trollies to faciliate demounting and movement of the complete lift assembly. The second is bolted to a special frame and fitted to a 1975 AEC six-wheeler.
Each crate contains 20 one-pint bottles, so a complete load totals 1500 gallons. Previously loading and unloading was done manually but with the introduction of the tail-lifts, the work cycle has been shortened.
