• Britain's first bus route to be operated entirely by low-noise buses goes into operation on August 13. On that date London Transport will begin converting its flat-fare S2 route from Clapton pond to Bromley station to operation by "quiet" MetroScania and Leyland National single-deckers.
London Transport has already taken delivery of six Metro-Scanias — called MCW /Scania Metropolitans in its press announcement — and these will be used initi#11y. Six Leyland Nationals will join these between now and September; the fir§t was delivered on Tuesday this week.
