Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• In Commercial Motor for June •29, as a result of information we had no reason to doubt, our report of an inquiry at Leeds with which Clugston Reclamation Ltd were concerned, before the Yorkshire LA. contained inaccuracies. In particular it was reported that a Scunthorpe lorry driver complained to the Yorkshire LA after being dismissed.

We wish to make clear that:— I. The driver, who was in fact from Morley, had told the DoE vehicle examiner that he had been dismissed, but Mr N. C. Bray, the company's transport manager (incorrectly referred to in the report as Mr R. Bray, works manager), emphasized in his evidence that the driver was not dismissed but left voluntarily.

. 2. The fleet inspection referred to in the report took place at the company's Drighlington depot and not at Scunthorpe. Normanby Road, the location of the company's registered office, was mis-spelt Normandy.

3. Mr Bray stated in evidence that the vehicle complained of was taken off the road the day the driver left and not the day after.

We regret the inaccuracies in our report and apologize for any erroneous impression they may have given.
