• A suggested limitation on the number of heavy vehicles using A2 from Dover to Brenley Corner has been turned down in the Commons.
The suggestion came from Mr David Crouch (Tory, Canterbury), who pointed out that improvements to this road would not be finished until 1976. Mr Keith Speed, Under—Secretary DoE, told him that limitation of the number of heavy vehicles would place an even greater burden on the more heavily trafficked A20.
Safety measures on A2 were being reviewed pending the proposed extensive improvements.
