• Weight restrictions of 20 tons on the Bidston Moss Viaduct section of M53 leading to the Kingsway Mersey Tunnel, will be lifted in early August.
The weight limit, in force since M53 opened and linked up with the second Mersey Tunnel, was imposed because of the Government's new safety rules governing box girder bridges. Strengthening work has been going on ever since.
